A Mandi-ism is what I refer to my daugther's words of wisdom that she spouts off when she should probably be keeping her mouth closed. I usually just write them down, but have decided that I should be sharing the pleasure of her wisdom with everyone else. I will do my best to update this blog as they roll off of her lips.

26 Mar 2008: I have been spending the past few days gathering everything together so that I can get our taxes filed. After several hours of sorting receipts yesterday I was losing patience with the task at hand as well as her incessant begging for MORE Easter candy. I said to her, "Amanda, you are just about on my last nerve! Go do something!" Without thinking she blurted out, "I was on your last nerve yesterday, so I can't be on it today because you don't have one left!"

27 Mar 2008: After giving a big long stretch to work out the kinks, I said to her this morning, "Oh, that felt good. Whata'ya think, do I look taller?" She said, "Mom, old people don't grow, they get littler. Don't you remember Granny?"

13 Jul 2008: While doing the laundry today I had just finished a load of Mandi's dance leotards and asked her to go to her room and bring me some hangers. She asked, "Why?" I replied, "I need to hang your dance suits up so they can dry and I'm out of hangers here in the laundry room." She said, "Can't you get them yourself?" I said, "No, I asked you to get them." With a heavy sigh and a roll of her eyes she said, "Ooooh! Alright! But I'm only bringing you the empty ones!"

This Indenture made the Sixth Day of June in the year of our Lord God One -

thousand Seven hundred and thirty two Between Robert Bickers of Spotsylvania County

planter of the one part and John Collins of Caroline County planter of the other part -

Witnesseth that the said Robert Bickers for His Consideration of the Sum of five Shil

lings lawfull[sic] money to him in hand paid by the said John the receipt where of the said -

Robert doth hereby acknowledge and there of and of Every part thereof doth hereby ac

cept and Discharge the said John [undecipherable] admrs. Hath granted bargained & [hole in doc] by

St. Thomas Parrish[sic] Being painful and weak in Body But in perfect mind

and memory Blessed by to God for it I do ordain and Constitute this my

Last Will and Testament in manner and following - firt I comd. My

Soule[sic] into the hands of Allmighty[sic] God hoping Through the Tenderous

Death and pashion[sic] of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to Receive free

pardon and Foregiveness[sic] of all my Sins and my Body to be Decently

running as high as the fork of a branch by the Edge of the ponds that

Christopher Niels "Chris" Chavez

1965-2007

On Jul 11, 2007 Chris was riding with Kevin and the guys to work on their motorcycles when Kevin was hit by a hit-and-run driver. Rick and Chris were the two guys who gave chase and ultimately after 60+ miles from the scene of the accident, Chris was able to give the police department a location as to where the driver and vehicle were as well as identify the driver. That day, Chris went far beyond the call of friendship and union brotherhood by putting his life on the line for his boss, union brother, and friend. For this he has been praised and will always be remembered for this unselfish act of courage.

On Jul 28, 2007 Chris died in a motorcycle accident in Upland, California. He was a free-spirited person with a wonderful smile that never seemed to fade. We enjoyed the times we had with Chris on the runs he joined us on and the parties out our home that he attended. He was loved by his fellow employees at FTR Int'l and will be greatly missed by all.

Kevin's Accident - Jul 11-2007 - Updated 7-17-07

July 17-2007:

On July 11, 2007 at 0616 hrs Kevin was deliberately run down by a motorist on his way to work. Riding with 3 other of our friends and co-workers who were also targeted by this crazy person, Kevin and his motorcycle were hit on the freeway and is very, very lucky to be alive. He was traveling at approximately 65mph when hit by this motorist who was going upwards of 80mph. Due to pending investigations and lawsuits currently being filed, I cannot say too much about the goings on at this time.

What I can tell all our friends and family is that his doing rather well. Still pretty beat-up, cut-up, & broken-up, but is on the mend. He has had his re-check out our family doctor and though that didn't go very well, we are awaiting another round of x-rays and an mri to determine the complete extent of his injuries. We have received confirmation that his wrist is fractured and will more than like need surgery. The doctor also feels that the bone in his forearm is broke as well. The abrasions are healing nicely with no evidence of infection and his bruisings continue to pop-up in new locations daily.

As for returning to work, he has not received the go ahead on that, so don't look for him back any too soon. As the healing process continues and developments arise, I will update on his progress.

My upmost respect & appreciation for Rick, Bill and Chris for staying with him until I arrived and a super WOO-HOO for Rick & Chris putting their lives on the line to chase down & help capture the idiot that thought I was ready to be a widow! You guys went far beyond the meaning of friendship Wednesday morning - I can't thank you enough! I really want to thank everyone who have been popping in and out all week and a very special thank you, hug, kiss for all you guys that came this past weekend to help out with the household 'hunny-dos' (and I'm making this weekend's list already - LOL) - I don't know what I would do without so many great friends! You guys are the best! Another great thank you to everyone who has sent gifts, flowers, cards, and food! Most people are lucky to find 1 great friend in a lifetime - we are blessed to have an entire entourage!

Mrs. Hunt died Saturday at DePaul Hospital West, Bridgeton. She was born in St. Louis.

She is survived by her husband, Robert P. Hunt; a son, Robert K., St. Charles; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Jean) Hurd, Florissant; and Mrs. June Ann Toth, Peculiar, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Baue Funeral Home, 620 Jefferson St., St. Charles.

Manson M. "Mac" Hunt, 72, of St. Charles, died Tuesday (Dec. 18, 1990) at Bethesda General Hospital in St. Louis.

Mr. Hunt served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He was a retired real estate salesman.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at Prinster-Paul Funeral Home, 240 North Kingshighway, St. Charles. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, 2700 West Clay Street, St. Charles.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the start of the service today.

He had no immediate survivors.

A funeral mass was Oct. 23 at St. Kevin Catholic Church with inter- ment in Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis.

Mr. Hunt is survived by his mother, Anna C. Hunt; three sisters, Ber- nadine Hunt of St. Louis, Margaret Bruno of St. Ann and Carol Art of California; and one brother, Robert of Troy.

Mr. Hunt was plant manager for Thomas and Betts electrical manufacturer in Overland and had been employed by the company for 30 years. He served in the Army.

He is survived by his wife, Carol M. Hunt (nee Palecek) of St. Charles; one son, Douglas W. of St. Peters; one daughter, Gayle Hunt- Mahn of St. Peters; and six grand- children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William L. and Helen Davis Hunt.

Robert H. Hunt Sr., 65, of St. Charles died Saturday, May 25, 1991, at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles. He was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Vigus, Mo.

Mr. Hunt worked as a hoisting engineer for Christian Construc- tion Col. of St. Louis for 15 years. He was a member of Hoisting Engineers Local 513 in St. Louis.

He is survived by his wife, Louelle Hunt (nee Gregory); one son, Robert H. Hunt Jr. of O'Fallon; two daughters, Irene H. comer of O'Fallon and Velma Spear of Lake Saint Louis; one sister, Opal Ruhl of St. Charles; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

JERSEYVILLE - Lloyd Eugene Hunt, 76, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis County.

He was born in Pinckneyville, July 11, 1925, a son of the late Harry and Martha (Carter) Hunt.

For 29 years, he was employed at Principia College in Elsah, where he served as a chef, before retiring in 1990.

Surviving are his wife, Eva May Hunt, whom he married Feb 27, 1947, in Sharpsburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Jeff Snyder of Jerseyville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd Eugene and Marlene Hunt of Mountain Home, Idaho, Kenneth Ray and Debbie Hunt of Greenfield and Gilbert Nelson and Patty Hunt of Newbern; seven grandchildren, Brandon Hunt, Nathan Hunt, Dustin Hunt, Dewayne Hunt, Derek Hunt, Jeffrey Snyder II and Britain Snyder; five sisters, Harriet Stanley of Springfield, Barbara Ann Fairman of Nashville, Caroline Hunt and Patricia Hunt, both of Nokomis and Doris Hunt; and three brothers, Warren Hunt of North Carolina, Wilbur Hunt of Chatham and Westley Hunt of Texas.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Gerald Wayne Hunt.

ALTON - Helen Hunt, 91, died at 6:25 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2001, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.

Born Dec. 22, 1909, in Jersey County, she was a daughter of the late Judson and Dora (Howerton) Hunt.

She was employed at Owens Illinois as a machine operator for 42 years, retiring in 1972.

Surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph A., Harry J. and Myron L. Hunt, and three sisters, Georgianna Cambron, Dorothy Hunt and Roberta Jackson.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Upper Alton Cemetery, with the Rev. Orrin Anderson officiating.

BRIDGETON, Mo. - Joanne Hunt, 74, died Sunday, Feb 25, 2001, at DePaul Health Center in St. Louis.

Born Aug. 11, 1926, in Alton, she was a daughter of the late Louis Joseph and Anna Henrietta (Lenhardt) Fisher.

She married Walter G. Hunt Sept. 21, 1948, in Alton. He survives.

Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Kim Hunt and Davis Rosen of Chesterfield, Mo.; a granddaughter, Anne Rosen of Chesterfield, Mo; and three brothers, Lamar Fischer of Alton, Maurice Fisher of Palm Harbor,Fla., and Gordon Fischer of of Alton.

She was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Hunt, and three sisters, Evelyn Fischer, Virginia Goeken and Nancy Morgenroth.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at noon Friday at Targhetta Funeral Home in Brighton. The Rev. William "Bill" Fester will officiate.

Burial will be at Brighton Cemetery.

CHAMPAIGN Forrest Hunt, 93, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at Carle Hospital.

Born Nov. 10, 1908, in Rankin, Ill., he was a son of Harry and Bess (Jones) Hunt.

He and the former Vertice Hambleton were married on Feb. 14, 1932, in Rankin. She died May 17, 1994.

A grain broker for A.G. Edwards, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Champaign, Masonic Order and Eastern Star.

Surviving are a son, Richard Hunt of Wilsonville; grandchildren, Jeffrey Hunt, Todd Fisher, Janell (Hunt) Kahl, Jennifer Fisher and James Hunt; great-grandchildren, Jayden and Nolan Kahl; a sister, Doris Grimes of Bartlett, Ill.; two nieces and 16 nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Morgan Memorial Home in Savoy, Ill., where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday by the Rev. Don Walden.

Interment will follow at Riverside Mahomet.

BRIGHTON William Frank Hunt, 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, in Alton.

Born July 11, 1922, in Selmer, Tenn., he was a son of the late Columbus and Rhoda Hunt.

He married the former Todd Schilling on Nov. 18, 1941. She survives.

Also surviving are four children and their spouses, Roger and Betty Hunt of Alton, Patricia and Don Beeman of Brighton, Greg and Susan Hunt of Jerseyville and Cheryl And Ben Benton of Brighton; nine grandchildren, Cathy Prewitt and her husband, Steve, Paula Fritz and her husband, David, David Beeman and his wife Leona, Tanya McGuire and her husband, Patrick, Tyler Hunt, Sara Hunt, Kyndal Watsek, Darric Taul and Phillip Benton; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers and sisters, L.C. Hunt, Leslie Hunt, Thelma Weatherford and Dean Myers.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Employed at AmerenUE for 43 years, retiring in 195, he was instrumental in forming the ElectroGas Credit Union and was a member of the IBEW for 30 years. A World War II Army veteran, he was a proud memeber of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Brighton, the Alton Lions Club and the Gideon's International. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Cottage Hills for 57 years and a devoted husband, beloved father and a trusted and respected friend.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cottage Hills or the Odd Fellows Lodge of Brighton.

Thomas Andrew Hunt, 75, died at 5:47 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Nov. 6, 1928, in St. Louis to Thomas F. and Emma M. (Detmers) Hunt.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. A diesel mechanic for National Marine Service in Hartford, he retired in 1985 after 34 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbux and was very active with the Boy Scouts. He had achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and continued to help Scouts in trying to become Eagle Scouts.

In addition to his parents, one sister, Martha Diez, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. Father Jim Walther as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Howard W. Hunt, 78, formerly of Wanda and Wood River, died of leukemia Thursday, May 15, 2003.

Born in Wanda to Herbert and Clara Hunt, he attended Wanda Grade School and Wood River High School. He went to work as a welder with Standard Oil Refinery in Wood River before serving with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He returned to work at Standard Oil and retired in 1966.

Following his retirement from Standard Oil, he worked for Fluor Engineers and Constructors of Irvine, Calif., and retired from their employment in 1985.

Surviving are his wife, Freda "Van" (Garner) Hunt; two son, Darrell and Bill; and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Linda Hunt.

Memorial services will be conducted Thursday at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Road, Naples, Fla., 34109.

EAST ALTON Charles "Chester" Hunt Sr., 95, died at 1:25 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Alton Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 4, 1907, in Palmyra to Charles Marion and Media Thompson Hunt.

He married Ruby Cairns, who died in 1932. He married Patience Emma Granger on May 3, 1940, in Carlinville. She died in 1998.

An Olin Corp. employee for more than 30 years, he retired in 1972. His great love of life was the training and driving of harness racehorses, which he continued until the age of 84.

Surviving are three sons and their wives, Gene and Alice Hunt of Minook, Ill., Charles and Patricia Hunt Jr. of Bethalto and Wayne and Mona Hunt of East Alton; 11 grandchildren, Charles Hunt III, Paula Webster, Carla Urban, Carrie Hunt-Bruns, Wayne Hunt Jr., Bradford Hunt, Valerie Kruckeberg, Virginia Holtz, Tammy Voiles, Lanny Kruckeberg and Lanette Kamholtz; 15 grea-grandchildren and his beloved nieces and nephew, Lu Anna Gray, Darlene Massa, Marlene Tudor, Loren Hunt and Larry Granger.

Besides his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Sue Kruckeberg; an infant sister and two brothers, Lee and Lowell Hunt.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Elias-Smith Funeral Homes and Crematory in Bethalto, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Pastor Lou Zuck will officiate.

Burial will follow at Mayfield Cemetery in Carlinville.

Donald F. Hunt, 73, died and went to be with the Lord Wednesday evening, Jan. 28, 2004.

He was born in Piasa and, after attending high school in Greenville, Ill., graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Though his working career included real estate, the past 20 years have been devoted to assisting his sons in their practice, Hunt Clinic of Chiropractic. In his spare time he loved to paint, do woodworking and play golf. However, he will be missed for his greatest pastime, barbecue chef for his family. He was a loving husband, devoted father and proud grandpa.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 53 years, Dolores A. Hunt; his mother, Doris L. Hunt of Shipman; five sons and their wives, Dr. Tunis Hunt and Dianna of River Hills, S.C., Dr. Kim Hunt and Beverly of Broken Arrow, Okla., Steve Hunt and Janet of Waxhaw, N.C., Dr. Larry Hunt and Patricia of Fort Mills, S.C., and Master Sgt. Donald Hunt (USAF retired) and Lisa of Waynesville, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; a brother, Doc Hunt of Bunker Hill; and a sister, Alice Jean Matlack of Shipman.

A celebration of his life was held at noon Saturday, Jan. 31, in the sanctuary of Central Church of god, with the Rev. Greg Baker officiating.

Myrtle I. Hunt, 94, died at 4:45 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2005, at Robings Manor Nursing Home.

She was born Sept. 21, 1910, in Brighton to Charles and Katherine (Winsel) Blumstein.

She first married Isaac Eddington, who died Nov. 9, 1956. She married Walter Hunt on Nov. 24, 1960. He died Aug. 21, 1985.

She was a member of the Brighton Civic League.

Survivors include three daughters, Gertrude and her husband William, Lucker of Brighton, May Wilson of Godfrey and Shirley Haycraft of Alton; a son, Walter Hunt of Godfrey; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Maher and Cleda Smith, both of Brighton; and a brother, Warren Blumstein of Brighton.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William Hunt; three sisters, Emman and Nellie Eddington and Elsie Sheary; two brothers, Russell and Carl Blumstein; and three grandchildren, Paul Wilson, Helen Rice and Pat Hunt.

Visitation was Monday at Targhetta Funeral Home in Brighton, where the Revs. Paul and Joyce Anders will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. today.

Burial will be at the Woodburn Cemetery.
